From the first college fair that took place in February 2022 at Carver Center in Peoria, Illinois to the 3rd one in Springfield, Illinois on April 5th, 2023 at the University of Illinois Springfield, Marcus Hamilton Founder of DIGIM (D@mn, I Graduate in May!) opens up to on Afro House Springfield. Hamilton , who has a background in education, most recently as an admissions counselor for Northern Illinois University, created The DIGIM College Fair in 2020 during the "Coronavirus" Pandemic. The idea behind this pop-culture infused fair takes on a three-pronged conceptual approach: Cool, Educational & Engaging.
Hamilton shared with us that every DIGIM event is very unique because it features likeminded individuals from different Backgrounds operating in various industries Health Care , Politics , Information technology, Trade , Nonprofit Organization ,Not-for-Profit Organization, Entertainment, Media, Sport, and Entrepreneurship. " DIGIM is a college conference that exposes high school students to not only college and other post-secondary options, but also connects them with industry experts" says Marcus Hamilton who Also goes by Marc Supreme.
"This April 5th event featured 300 students from Springfield's District 186 and Decatur's District 61, representing Springfield High, Southeast High, Lanphier High, Macarthur High and Eisenhower High. The 3rd DIGIM event was made possible with the help of Springfield natives Icons Besserat Habtes a fashion model who featured in numerous publications and runway shows such as Hope for Women Magazine, NFocus Louisville Magazine, LA Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and 4x NBA Champion Andre Iguodala who attended the event virtually Click Here to Watch."Besserat Habtes was very instrumental and recruited a team of panelists that are thriving in business & entrepreneurship, arts & entertainment, health, politics, information technology & trades in the Springfield area and beyond. One panelist for the health session comes all the way from the Mayo Clinic in Arizona! DIGIM isn't just about "going to college," it's about helping students "figure it out." We help students understand that college is a door to opportunity, not a seat to success." says Hamilton
